Charitable giving: How recipient-country characteristics influence donors' behaviour
When someone considers giving money to a charity, such as World Vision, which characteristics of countries receiving the aid does he or she care about most? Poverty? Child mortality? The country’s ties with the donor’s own country? What else?
This article investigates the relative importance of the characteristics of aid-receiving countries likely to influence donor decisions using a 1000minds ‘choice survey’ involving students (potential donors) at the University of Otago.
