Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use 1000minds. This page explains how our application aligns with accessibility standards, what already works well, the areas we’re improving, and how to contact us.

This accessibility conformance report covers the 1000minds application available at app.1000minds.com and eu.1000minds.com. It is intended for both public readers and procurement teams evaluating accessibility.

Standards and overall stance

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and are continually improving accessibility. Based on testing with Apple VoiceOver on macOS, the application mostly conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Most core features are accessible, and we’re improving menu navigation and screen-reader interactions.

How we evaluate

Our evaluation combines automated and manual methods:

  • Automated checks using Lighthouse
  • Manual testing for keyboard navigation, focus handling, color contrast, and screen-reader behavior
  • Screen-reader testing performed with VoiceOver on macOS; NVDA on Windows is scheduled for our next cycle
  • Internal testers, including a team member with deuteranomaly color blindness
  • Cross-browser checks on current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on Windows and macOS

How we design for accessibility

Our approach follows the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, which organize accessibility into four key areas: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

Perceivable

We present content in ways that can be perceived by different users. Meaningful images and icons include text alternatives, and color contrast is designed to meet Level AA. The interface is responsive and supports page magnification (zoom) to at least 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Operable

Interactive elements can be navigated using a keyboard, with logical tab order and visible focus indicators. We avoid keyboard traps and use consistent patterns for menus and dialogs. Menus are fully navigable but are being refined for clarity and shortcut discoverability.

Understandable

We strive for clear labeling, predictable navigation, and helpful validation messages. Copy and controls use consistent terminology, and complex tasks are broken into manageable steps where possible.

Robust

We use semantic HTML and ARIA where appropriate so that assistive technologies can reliably interpret our UI. We currently test with VoiceOver on macOS/iOS and monitor for regressions across browser updates; NVDA on Windows will be added to our test matrix.

Current strengths

  • Keyboard navigation with visible focus and logical sequencing
  • Strong color contrast for text and key UI elements
  • Text alternatives for meaningful imagery and icons
  • Use of semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks
  • Responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile; supports zoom/reflow
  • Clear, actionable error and validation messages

Known limitations

  • Some charts do not yet provide corresponding tabular data alternatives
  • Menus are navigable by keyboard and screen reader, but we’re improving consistency, shortcut discoverability, and focus announcements
  • Screen-reader testing has so far focused on VoiceOver (macOS); Windows NVDA coverage is pending

If you encounter an accessibility issue not listed here, please tell us — we’ll investigate and prioritize fixes.

Planned improvements

  • Add tabular equivalents for charts where appropriate
  • Improve menu navigation: clearer focus management, more consistent announcements, and documented keyboard shortcuts
  • Add NVDA on Windows to our regular screen-reader testing
  • Redesign of “alternative” data entry to improve clarity and accessibility

Supported environments

We test and support the following environments:

  • Operating systems: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
  • Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (current versions)
  • Assistive technologies: VoiceOver (macOS/iOS); NVDA (Windows) planned
  • Devices: Desktop, tablet, and mobile (responsive layouts)

About this statement

This Accessibility Conformance Report is based on our self-assessment against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and related international accessibility standards (Section 508 and EN 301 549). It reflects our current understanding of the product’s accessibility performance and areas for improvement. The report is not a formal certification and is provided to support transparency for all clients, including public-sector procurement teams.
